Do you TRUST yourself enough?

Howdy Reader,

My most recent episode on the Pod, I spoke about a piece of advice you ignored (or went against) that ended up being the right decision... Today I want to further reiterate this...

Last weeks Newsletter can be read here

🤷🏻‍♂️ Life & Thoughts

We get advice all the time, right? Sometimes it’s helpful, but other times… not so much. Figuring out what’s truly valuable versus what’s just someone else’s projection can be tricky. Here’s my take on the advice I chose to ignore and why that choice became one of the best decisions I ever made.

Taking the Leap: Betting on Myself

Years ago, (may of you would know) I made the decision to leave my 9-to-5 job. Plenty of people cheered me on, but there were also many who thought I was out of my mind. They warned me about the risks, the lack of security, the “what ifs.” But deep down, I knew that stepping away from what was comfortable was the only way I’d ever get to where I truly wanted to be.

So I did and well it was and has been the best thing I did :)

When to Ignore the Naysayers

We all get advice from people who, with the best intentions, want to keep us “safe.” But safe isn’t always what’s best. Here’s how I think about it:

  • Evaluate the Source: Are they giving advice based on their own fears or limitations? Sometimes people project their fears onto us because they’d never take that risk themselves.
  • Trust Your Gut: If your instincts tell you to go for it, listen to that voice. No one else knows your goals, dreams, and potential the way you do.
  • Ask Yourself Why: Are you making a decision because it truly feels right for you? Or are you letting others' doubts steer you off course?

Peer Pressure, Validation, and Cultural Narratives

In a world where everyone has an opinion, it’s easy to get caught up in what other people think you “should” do. We’re surrounded by cultural expectations, social pressures, and sometimes the desire for validation from others.

  • Peer Pressure: Don’t feel compelled to follow advice just because it’s coming from friends, family, or authority figures. Stay true to what you feel is best for you.
  • Validation: Make choices that align with your vision, not because you want approval from others. Own your decisions wholeheartedly, even if they go against the grain.
  • Cultural Narratives: Recognize that our backgrounds and upbringings can influence what we see as “right” or “safe.” Don’t be afraid to challenge these norms if they don’t align with your goals.

The Takeaway: Self-Trust is Key

Ignoring advice isn’t about being rebellious for the sake of it. It’s about self-trust. When I stepped away from my steady job, I knew the journey wouldn’t be easy. But I also knew I’d regret it if I didn’t take the chance. I’ve learned to weigh advice carefully, consider its relevance, and then make a choice that feels true to me.

So, here’s my challenge to you: What’s a piece of advice you ignored (or wanted to ignore) that turned out to be the right call? If you’ve ever made a bold decision that went against the advice of others, I’d love to hear your story.

Taking that first leap into the unknown isn’t easy, but the rewards can be life-changing. The more you trust yourself, the more you’ll see what you’re truly capable of. So go out there, back yourself, and let your own path unfold.

To further reiterate the importance of trusting your gut, not giving up, but also being willing to continuously improve - this week I have hit a milestone which has taken MONTHS of trial and error and problem solving and many ups and downs!

$30,000 month in revenue in the business!

WHICH BLOWS MY MIND...

This is what the journey looks like in a graph format...

Also note: Net Profit is: 18.64% (for October 2024, the $30k month)

Just to be clear - I am not here to share with you how to build your business. I am here sharing how I am building mine.
